With just minutes left for polling the Elections office has advised that at 5pm, 71.6% or 15,200 total of registered voters have cast their ballots.
The three districts with the highest number of voters are Cayman Brac East with 81%. East End with 80.9% and Newlands with 78.2%
The three districts with the lowest number of voters are Cayman Brac West with 66%, George Town North with 66% and West Bay West 67.1%
With polling closing at 6pm the Elections office hopes for an increase in the turn out but remained skeptical that it would pass the previous elections result of 79%.
Counting of the ballots is expected to begin at 7pm and conclude at around midnite.
Counting will also take place at the polling stations and candidates are encouraged to visit their respective locations to receive the results as soon as the count is complete
To a question related to missing boxes, Supervisor of Elections, Mr. Wesley Howell, confirmed that all boxes are accounted for and stated that voting has been going smoothly throughout the day.
