EDITORIAL: Becoming a Hero

On Monday, January 28th, the Cayman Islands celebrates its heroes and many awardees and their families will celebrate their achievements at this annual event.

There are many heroes among us, many are mentioned but others are not. We wish to mention our greatest hero our mothers and fathers and encourage our children to be heroes in their own right.

Here are a few attributes of a hero

A) A person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character;

B) A person who, in the opinion of others, has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or ideal;

C) A person who demonstrates perseverance, strength and loyalty

D) A person who is proud of whom they have become and treasures their upbringing and heritage

Heroes are found in all classes of society and anyone can be a hero. One of the major responsibilities of a parent is to be a hero for their children so as we celebrate with those that were nominated and accepted by the local administration, we can all be heroes in our own right.

Be a hero today.
