Officers Respond to Public Concerns on Drug Use on Walkers Road, 5 arrests made

On Monday, 8 October, officers attended a location along Walker’s Road, between East Boulevard and Moxam Road, in response to public concerns about drug use in the area. The officers came upon a group of persons behind an older building, who were behaving suspiciously. Officers searched the persons under the Misuse of Drugs Law and recovered a ganja cigarette and a portion of suspected ganja on one of them. Three men, ages 18, 21, and 22 of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja. They were later bailed.

Officers returned to the area yesterday morning, 9 October, and two further arrests were made on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja. Both males, age 16 and 18, were granted bail.
