We chose to emphasize th positive side of news and the accomplishments of our residents, but as a true newspaper we must include some of the disturbing incidents that plague our nation.
As we prepared to honor those who were recognized over the last weekend at the annual Queen’s Birthday Celebration, there were two incidents that are worthy of reporting.
The murder in North Side and the armed robbery outside a local bank during closed hours are reminders that we have changed from the low crime destination that we referred to as Paradise in many of our articles.
There is a price to be paid for progress and as the world changes so will we. Value of life and respect for one another has been tarnished by hatred and envy and as morals and values globally are affected we will see a change in our remote part of the world.
Cayman is still significantly safe but we have to be aware that these changes will come and do our utmost to protect the values that this country was built upon.
For those of us who believe in prayer, we will find incidents where we believe prayer has been a factor. However, faith without works is dead and we must do our part to educate and motivate when possible.
There is a price to be paid for Paradise, and as a media outlet we will continue to report balanced news and not allow the few incidents of crime overshadow the many achievements of our people.
