Independents capture the majority

The Caymanian Islands Electorate have spoken and the results have revealed many surprises and upsets. With a 75% voting turnout, 5% less than 2013 elections, the country now awaits to see the makeup of the next Government. With no party or group collecting the required 10 votes to form the Government, it is clear a Coalition will be formed.

Initial reports are that the islands will be led by a Coalition led Government which will be confirmed in the next few days. We are sure that all candidates are in discussions to achieve this and the country will be in the hands of a Government tasked with sailing the good ship Cayman for the next few years.

In the words of a former Premier “Politicians come and go, but the people remain and life goes on”.

Over the next few weeks Caymanian times will be outlining the promises made by the successful candidates and will monitor those developments. We have provided a breakdown of the results on pages 5,6 & 7 for our reader’s records and look forward to providing analysis in the future.
