The achievement has been the more remarkable when set against a backdrop of challenges and hurdles that CINA has had to deal with, such as putting in place a delivery structure and arrangement that focused on building capacity of ‘home grown’ coaches and administrators, and despite the reservation of some and misunderstanding of others. The challenge was immense, but our collective approach broke new grounds while consolidating practices that had been established since our first world ranking in 2017 (then ranked 35th in the world).

Community Netball Emerges!

The Junior and Senior National Netball Teams continue to observe social distancing by conducting solo sessions at practice time. As of 19th July, 2020, the Cayman Islands government has further eased COVID-19 restrictions allowing contact sports to be played. All CINA key stakeholders were invited to attend a webinar on 21st July, 2020 introducing the Return to Netball policy framework. Members were offered guidance on the way forward as the country gradually moves to COVID-19 Suppression Level 1. CINA will continue to guide it's members on how to safely resume community Netball. Several club teams have now resumed practice as they prepare for the resumption of the Women's Open League due to recommence at the end of August 2020.

Road to Singapore!

The Senior and Junior National Netball Teams were both disappointed to learn that they would not be able to participate in tournaments scheduled in early 2020 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. However, CINA has since confirmed that the M1 Nations Cup, hosted by Singapore, will now be tentatively held from 6th to 12th of December, 2020. This will provide the Senior National Team another opportunity to increase their ranking as they go head-to-head with Singapore, Tonga, and Fiji for the first time. They will also meet the Isle of Man to whom they suffered a passionate lost in 2019 with an opportunity to redeem themselves!
