Honduras immediately started distributing the vaccines
Honduras will become the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to receive COVID-19 vaccines from the United States government as its global donation drive starts.
According to an online Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) vaccine tracker, Honduras received 1.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine on Sunday. Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez posted on Twitter thanks to US President Joe Biden. He said, “Honduras appreciates your friendship and support.
“Thanks to the historic Biden initiative, the US, together with the G-7 countries, are making donations of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines available via Covax on an unprecedented scale to fight the covid19 pandemic. Honduras says thank you!”
The US government listed Haiti “and other CARICOM countries” that will receive vaccines from its global donation of 80m.
