Sunrise Airways is expanding its routes

Air travel around the Eastern Caribbean has recently become quicker and more convenient thanks to a local airline increasing its routes.

Sunrise Airways is enhancing travel connectivity within the Eastern Caribbean with the introduction of a new service linking Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts, and St Lucia.

It commenced this week with the service operating six days a week, omitting Tuesdays.

The Haiti-based airline will utilize its 30-seat Embraer EMB 120 aircraft to travel through the route, promising comfort and efficiency for passengers.

Sunrise Airways, a reputable family-owned enterprise, boasts an extensive network route spanning across 12 countries in the Caribbean and Central America.

The increase in airlift is particularly welcome in Dominica which anticipates a notable surge in tourism and economic benefits.  Antigua and Barbuda believes the arrival of Sunrise Airways there will have a great impact on the tourism industry.

Collin James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, said having more inter-island connectivity is vital given that it is set to host several events including the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States and ICC T20 World Cup.

“Once you put the airlift in place, the ability to get people to take that lift is easy. With all these events that are coming up, regional travel in particular is very, very important for Antigua and Barbuda,” he said.

“So being able to position new flights in from St Lucia, St Kitts, from Barbados, Trinidad, it’s all good for us. So, it helps to support the marketing activities that we do. For example, we have Carnival coming up, we have a team that goes down and they do road shows in all the malls in Trinidad, and they get the message out.”
