Anderson starts strongly as indoor season opens

Aaliyannah Anderson is in impressive form

Cayman’s Aaliyannah Anderson opened her indoor season in style at the Indiana Early Bird Meet on Friday. She won the women’s 60 metres hurdles with a personal best 8.48 seconds, which is the fifth fastest time in NCAA Division II so far this season. Anderson later returned to the track for the 200m, finishing second overall in 24.93secs.

At the Spire Holiday Classic, Imala Edwards-Smith had a strong showing across two events. She placed fourth overall in the girls’ 60m in 7.95secs, then followed up with a silver medal in the 200m, clocking 25.61secs.

Teammate Alex Irons competed in both sprints as well, finishing sixth in heat eight of the boys’ 60m in 7.49secs, and fifth in his section of the 200m in 24.10secs.

Rounding out the Cayman performances, DaQuana Howell excelled in the girls’ 300m, winning her race in 39.41secs.
