I have had the privilege of working along side Mr Harris on many occasions, public events, press briefings and most recently, April 30 in the Government Administration Building Election Media Room.
From the onset, I admired Andrel’s motivation, professionalism and compassion for media. In a country where very few individuals choose a career in this industry for various reasons, Andrel demonstrated his fearless, professional approach to covering Government or Community events with his unrelenting goal of getting the whole picture.
Many readers will never understand the pressure and intensity in a press briefing but whenever Andrel embraced the podium and microphone it was clear to see that he was in control.
I was amazed at his intellectual ability and tenacity, and it was clear to me that his God given talent was natural and as a young journalist he had a great future ahead in media.
We may never know what happened, but one thing is sure, The Cayman Islands has lost a shining star, and it will take some time if ever to replace Andrel Harris.
I will miss our candid conversations, even though we represented different Media houses and even though he was the age of my daughter I respected his commitment and even learnt from his strong media skills.
There are much positive things to write about Andrel, and I encourage the community to uplift these positive experiences that we have witnessed.
Wherever you are Andrel, God Speed and we will meet again.
