Next week Barbados moves into its most entertaining part of the year through its Crop Over Festival.
This electrifying festival, which dates back to the island’s sugarcane plantation era, has evolved into a world-renowned celebration of music, dance, and Caribbean spirit. It runs from 1 July to 4 August.
Barbados has dubbed this year ‘We Gatherin’ 2025’, a 12-month-long festival to bond people in a spirit of unity and pride. The theme for this year’s celebration, “Come ‘long Home,” encourages Barbadians and visitors alike to embrace the island’s unique heritage, traditions, and welcoming spirit.
During Crop Over visitors can expect to see elaborate costumes, enjoy the infectious rhythms of soca and calypso, and participate in exhilarating parties and street parades. The grand finale, known as Grand Kadooment Day on Monday 4 August, will see revellers take to the streets in dazzling attire, dancing to pulsating beats in an explosion of colour and festivity.
