Bodden Town Residents, get your Bulk Waste Ready

Now is Bodden Town’s turn. The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) will be collecting bulk waste in this district from Monday, May 19, 2025 as announced in the collection schedule for this massive clean-up exercise.

DEH Director, Richard Simms expressed his satisfaction with the success of the first two weeks of this year’s bulk waste collection schedule. “We thank West Bay and George Town residents for preparing, separating and placing their bulk waste in their curbside ensuring easy access by our collection teams. Do not wait until the last day to get ready. Remember, we are coming to you”, he said.

The Department also reminds George Town residents that Saturday, May 17, 2025, is the last day for collection in their area. No additional bulk waste must be placed as it will be considered littering or illegal dumping, which can result in a penalty of 6 months of imprisonment and a minimum fine of $500.

Bulk waste refers to large items such as old furniture, tyres and metal items that are not collected as part of the DEH’s weekly residential pick-up services. Metal and vegetative waste must be separated from other bulk waste items. Meanwhile, construction and demolition debris, hazardous material, electronics, and tyres will not be collected during the bulk waste removal activity. Alternative arrangements must be made to transport these materials to the George Town Landfill or the landfill drop-off facility at the gate which remains accessible to the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day.

The DEH is also reminding residents that following the completion of the Bulk Waste Collection Schedule, individuals should arrange to transport any additional waste to the landfills and report any illegal dumping and littering to the DEH or the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS). This unlawful practice can result in a penalty of 6 months of imprisonment and a minimum fine of $500.
