Breast Cancer Foundation Cayman’s “Light Up The Night” Walk Illuminates Hope with Record-Breaking Attendance

The Breast Cancer Foundation Cayman proudly announces the unprecedented success of its annual “Light Up The Night” beach walk event, which took place this past Saturday evening along the stunning Seven Mile Beach. This year’s event saw the highest attendance in its history, with over1700 participants joining together in a luminous display of support, solidarity, and hope for those affected by breast cancer.

Under the stars, participants of all ages, armed with glowing accessories, created a moving sea of pink light along the beach. The event, renowned for its powerful symbolism and community spirit, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, support those currently battling the disease, and remember lives lost. This year, the foundation also celebrated it’s 15th anniversary and 14th walk.

“The overwhelming turnout for this year’s ‘Light Up The Night’ walk is a testament to the incredible spirit of our community and the shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of those touched by breast cancer,” said Beverly Edgington, Chief Administrator, the event organizer. “Seeing such a massive crowd come together, illuminating the night with hope and unity, was profoundly moving and underscores the importance of our mission.”

The evening was launched by Kim Lund, founder and Board Director, and the walk was led by BCF patron, Her Excellency Governor Jane Owen. Funds raised from the event will go directly towards the foundation’s various support programs, including counseling services, educational initiatives, and financial assistance for patients undergoing treatment.

“We are immensely grateful for the support of our sponsors, volunteers, and every single participant who made this event not just possible, but incredibly impactful,” added Kim Lund. “Your generosity and spirit have lit up the night in more ways than one, bringing us closer to a future where breast cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.”
