Cayman Carnival Batabano hosts a free workshop “The Business of Carnival”
The Cayman Carnival Batabano Committee, in collaboration with the Cayman Islands Centre for Business Development (CICBD), is proud to present The Business of Carnival, a free two-day workshop designed to elevate the tourism, cultural and financial potential of Cayman’s mas bands.
Taking place on Friday, 3 October from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and Saturday, 4 October from 10am to 1pm, this long-overdue initiative addresses a critical gap in the Carnival ecosystem: the intersection of cultural expression and business acumen. As we work toward raising the brand and product of Cayman Carnival to regional and international standards, it has become clear that sustainable success requires more than creativity—it demands strategy, structure, and entrepreneurial insight.
The Business of Carnival will offer current and aspiring mas band leaders, designers, and cultural stakeholders practical tools to build viable, scalable Carnival offerings and experiences. Topics will include branding, budgeting, sponsorship, logistics, customer experience, and legacy-building—ensuring that our cultural expressions are not only vibrant, but economically empowered.
“This workshop is about more than costumes and road parades,” said Donna Myrie-Stephen, Chairperson of Cayman Carnival Batabano. “It’s about equipping our creatives with the business tools to thrive, so that Cayman’s Carnival product can stand proudly among the region’s best—not just in spirit, but in structure.” To register, email batabanocaymancarnival@gmail.com , or DM on IG and FB - Cayman Carnival Batabano.
