Head to the Ritz-Carlton this weekend for a succession of foodie events that will tickle your taste buds like no other. Held every year in January, Cayman Cookout is still going ahead for 2021 despite Covid restrictions not allowing international superstar chefs to participate. Instead, Cayman’s own superstar chefs will be on hand, with a whole host of signature events aimed at bringing a bit of foodie fun and excitement to the island.

The weekend kicks off on Friday 15th January with the splendid Barefoot BBQ at The Ritz-Carlton, starting at 7pm and costing CI$180 per person. Dine under the stars on grill specials created by popular local chefs.

Saturday brings the ever-popular Rum and Robusto event, presented by the Ministry of International Trade, Investment, Aviation, and Maritime Affairs, starting at 3pm and costing CI$108. This is a rum tasting unlike any other, with guests encouraged to take a tour of the best rums such as Appleton Rum, Bacardi, Diplomatic, Flor de Cana, Mount Gay, Plantation Rum and Tortuga.

A fabulous truffle dinner takes place that evening, presented by Moët & Chandon and featuring Chef Thomas Seifried in collaboration with Progressive Distributors Limited and Sabatino Tartufi. Located at Blue by Eric Ripert at The Ritz-Carlton, the dinner is not cheap at CI$360 per person, but promises to be one of the highlight dinners of the year, starting with a cocktail reception: 6:30 p.m. at Silver Palm Lounge. The restaurant’s take on all things truffle, this will be an unmissable event for die-hard foodies.

The Bon Vivant Brunch in collaboration with Best Dressed Chicken and Kirk Market happens on Sunday at the Royal Cayman Islands Ballroom from 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and costs CI$225.00 per person. Featuring Moët & Chandon champagne and extravagant brunch selections, the food selections will complement the live cook-off against celebrities of the Cayman Islands, Dr. John Lee and Kathy Gardner-Nicholson. The winner of this culinary showdown will receive a donation in their name to Cayman Food Bank.

After all that excitement, a friendly Petanque competition along with flowing rosé wine will wrap up this year’s Cayman Cookout in style. This begins at 3:00 p.m., is located at Andiamo Beach and costs CI$80.00.
