Cayman Islands Identification Card Supports Hurricane Preparedness

The Department of eGovernment is encouraging Cayman Islands residents to include the government-issued Cayman Islands Identification Card: My eID in their 2026 hurricane season preparedness plans, as reliable identification is essential to accessing emergency services and recovery assistance across all three islands.

My eID is an official government-issued photo ID available to eligible residents of all ages, including Caymanians, civil servants and their dependents. In the event of a hurricane or other emergency, having a secure and portable form of identification readily available may be useful in circumstances where identification is needed in connection with emergency response or recovery activities, including where identity or immigration status must be confirmed for access to services, assistance, shelters, or other arrangements.

In addition to serving as a physical form of identification, cardholders can use My Info to view and update certain identity information online, including their residential address, email address, and phone number. Keeping this information up to date is an important part of ensuring records remain accurate and current, particularly as residents make hurricane season preparations.

My eID is designed to help simplify how identity is used in everyday life and in situations where quick, reliable proof of identity may be needed. As part of broader preparedness efforts, residents may wish to include My eID alongside other important items and documents they keep ready for the hurricane season.

Eligible persons who do not yet have the card are encouraged to learn more about My eID and consider applying. Offices are located in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, serving residents across all islands. Eligible residents who have not yet obtained the card are encouraged to apply.
