Cayman Prep A boys down Sir JAC in league play

The boys from Cayman Prep A (blue) defeated Sir John A. Cumber Primary during Week 3.

Centuries were the name of the game in the 2026 Inter-Primary Cricket Competition this past Friday, May 15 as no less than five schools hit 100s with four in winning positions and one school reaching the century mark only to end up on the losing end.

Results from the second day of league competition included:

Zone A Girls:

First Baptist Christian School beat Island Primary B 66 runs to 63 runs, Joanna Clarke Primary downed East End Primary 48 runs to 42 runs and Edna Moyle Primary got the better of Theoline L. McCoy Primary 54 runs to 53 runs. Island Primary A versus Prospect Primary was postponed and Red Bay Primary was not scheduled to play.

Zone B Girls:

St. Ignatius Catholic defeated Cayman Prep B 82 runs to 80 runs and Sir John A. Cumber Primary beat Cayman Prep A 49 runs to 29 runs. Marie Martin Primary versus Cayman International School was postponed and Footsteps School was not scheduled to play.

Zone A Boys:

First Baptist Christian School got past Island Primary B 124 runs to 108 runs, East End Primary downed Joanna Clarke Primary 90 runs to 60 runs and Edna Moyle Primary defeated Theoline L. McCoy Primary 87 runs to 84 runs. Island Primary A versus Prospect Primary was postponed and Red Bay Primary was not scheduled to play.

Zone B Boys:

Cayman Prep A got the better of Sir John A. Cumber Primary 117 runs to 54 runs, Marie Martin Primary outlasted Cayman International School 113 runs to 52 runs and St. Ignatius Catholic got past Cayman Prep B 109 runs to 50 runs. Footsteps School versus Cayman Academy was postponed.

Round 4 of the 2026 season continues on Friday, May 22 with a full schedule of games including:

Zone A Girls and Boys: Red Bay Primary versus Island Primary B (at Red Bay Primary), Joanna Clarke Primary versus Island Primary A (at Joanna Clarke Primary), First Baptist Christian School versus Theoline L. McCoy Primary (at First Baptist) and East End Primary versus Edna Moyle Primary (at Edna Moyle Primary). Prospect Primary are not scheduled to play.

Zone B Girls and Boys: Footsteps School versus Sir John A. Cumber Primary (at Sir John A. Cumber Primary), St. Ignatius Catholic versus Cayman Prep A (at the Annex Field) Marie Martin Primary versus Cayman Prep B (at the Annex Field) and Cayman International School versus Cayman Academy (boys at Camana Bay). The young ladies from Cayman Internationals School are not scheduled to play.

The 2026 competition runs from April to June with 15 participating schools that are divided into two zones (Zone A and B) in the girls’ and boys’ leagues. Games are 12 overs for boys and 8 overs for girls with each bowler restricted to bowling 3 overs (boys) and 2 overs (girls). Field sizes are roughly half a football field and teams consist of 11 players. Games are played on Friday afternoons starting at noon (girls) and 1:00 p.m. (boys) at various primary school and sports field venues.

The Inter-Primary Cricket Competition is organised and coordinated by the Department of Education Services, the Department of Sports and the Cayman Cricket Association and sponsored in part by Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC).

Parents and supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer on our young cricketers.
