CIFA domestic season kicks off this weekend with Charity Shield matches
The 2025/26 Cayman Islands Football Association domestic season kicks off this weekend with the men’s and women’s Charity Shield matches.
Defending CIFA Women’s League champions Sunset FC will play league runners-up Scholars ISC at 5 p.m. on Sunday, 28 Sept. at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. That match will be followed by the men’s Charity Shield match, which pits defending CIFA Premier League champion Elite SC versus FA Cup winners Tigers.
“This is an exciting time,” CIFA President Alfredo Whittaker said. “The start of a new season brings with it a renewed sense of pride and determination as clubs and players begin the journey to reach their goals. We wish all clubs the best of luck this season.”
The event will once again serve as a fundraiser for local non-profits. CIFA will match the proceeds from ticket sales and donate the total to Feed Our Future, which aims to solve childhood hunger in the Cayman Islands. Last year, CIFA donated KYD $2,280 to Sustainable Cayman, an organization organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and conservation across the islands.
Tickets will be $5 at the gate.
The Charity Shield matches annually kick off the Cayman Islands domestic season. Full league fixtures are set to be announced soon. Along with league fixtures, the upcoming season will again feature in-season competitions like the President’s Cup, Vice-President’s Cup and FA Cup.
CIFA invites the public and media to attend Sunday’s matches and support local football in the Cayman Islands.
