Culture and Heritage Organisations Across Cayman Unite to Empower Cayman’s children to be “Culture Keepers”

The Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) has partnered with several other local institutions to present a cultural passport initiative to primary aged students in the Cayman Islands. This is a part of the national organizations collective mandate to educate and empower youth in the preservation of their heritage and culture.

Titled “Culture Keepers” and lasting from 7th July 29th August, this programme will feature an interactive printable activity booklet that students can fill out through visiting each partnering organization. Booklets are also available at Foster’s Food Fair locations Island-wide. Students will receive a stamp for every organisation they visit, and those who collect all stamps will officially be crowned “Culture Keepers” with a celebratory pin. Representative institutions include:

• Cayman Islands National Museum

• Cayman National Cultural Foundation: Mind’s Eye Centre

• Cayman National Cultural Foundation: Harquail Theatre

• Cayman Turtle Centre

• National Gallery of the Cayman Islands

• National Trust of the Cayman Islands

• Pedro St. James

• Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

• Cayman Brac Dept of Tourism

• Cayman Brac Public Library

• Cayman Brac Heritage House and

• Cayman Brac Museum

The activities are accessible, and serve to allow students to engage in artistic and educational way with Cayman’s arts, culture, and heritage. Opening hours will vary between institutions, and further guidelines will be made available from 7th July on the CNCF Education website, access at www.cncf-education.org. As of today, some of the first ‘Culture Keepers’ have visited the Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s Mind’s Eye Center as well as the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands!
