The Department of Sports’ (DOS) flagship event for Women’s Month was a resounding success! Held on Sunday, March 8 at the Kimpton Seafire, the event drew a record crowd, including several government dignitaries. The event opened with a beautiful rendition of the national song, sang by 13yr old Skyler Miller.

Among the notable attendees were representatives from the host Ministry, Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage, Hon. Isaac Rankine and Chief Officer Teresa Echenique and Premier & Minister for Financial Services & Commerce, Hon. Andre Ebanks. All three brought remarks and greeting that resonated strongly with the audience.

Other dignitaries in attendance were: Minister for Health, Environment & Sustainability, Hon. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, Parliamentary Secretaries, Mrs. Julie Hunter and Ms. Heather Bodden, Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament, Hon. Pearlina McGaw-Lumsden, Acting Assistant Director for Department of Sport - Mr. Redver Ebanks.

The event featured a dynamic panel discussion with powerhouse panelists Lauren Scott (An Athletes Mindset Powering Global Events) , Schmarrah McCarthy (Engineering Power On and Off the Field), and Faith Young Crooks (Quintessential Nurturer of Olympians and Builder of Legacies), expertly moderated by Chief Officer Gloria McField-Nixon. The panel discussion kept the audience enthralled, inspired and encouraged, with each panelist sharing insightful nuggets that embodied this year’s theme, #GiveToGain.

The diverse audience was a testament to the need for such events, and attendees were clearly inspired by the information shared. Department of Sports Honouring Women’s Month organizing team extends its gratitude to sponsors and supporters who made the event possible.
