DES Announces Start Dates for 2026/2027 Academic Year
The Department of Education Services (DES) announces the start dates for the 2026/2027 academic year for all government primary and secondary schools, including the Lighthouse School and the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC).
All government schools will reopen on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. Orientation, registration and other scheduled activities for specific student groups will take place on the dates outlined below.
School Orientation for New and Transfer Students
Orientation Day provides new students and their parents with essential information to support a successful transition into their new learning environment. Attendance is mandatory for students enrolling in government school for the first time. Parents or guardians should attend orientation in accordance with their school's requirements.
