Winners Jim Fraser, Sacha Didier, Tali Didier and Brett Fraser

The swimming season splashed off with the Fraser Properties 4 x 400M Relay, with an amazing 22 teams taking to the water.

There was plenty of competition, particularly across the U12 and Over 40s categories, but most importantly, lots of fun, great team spirit and a fantastic atmosphere to start to the new campaign.

Overall first place was no surprise: Fraser Flyers, composing Jim Fraser, his Olympian son Brett and Tali and Sacha Didier.

The U12 race was won by the Stingray Stingers comprising of Victoria Bain, Arty Clark, Zachary De Wit and Fiona Martin.  Second U12s were the CBAC Sea Storm and third were Saltwater Sistas.

Fraser Properties again supported this super-fun relay format and every swimmer went home with a fabulous canvas backpack.

The Vitamin Shoppe handed out some much-appreciated post-race goodies, and an army of volunteers gave their invaluable time.

Meanwhile, things are starting to look a little different around the future home of Cayman’s new Aquatic Centre.

Over the past few weeks, the site has been a hive of activity with the construction fence up, preparing the site for the next major stage, excavation of the pool.

Trees have been felled and the site cleared, but some of that timber has already started a new chapter. The beautiful Shady Olive wood was offered to the community and reclaimed for future projects rather than simply going to waste.

The site is located alongside the existing Lions Pool and in front of the Boxing Gym in George Town.
