Theme: “Legacies in Motion: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future”

Who:

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Ministry of Social Development & Innovation, is inviting the public to submit nominations for the 2025 Older Persons Month Ambassadors.

What:

Each year, Ambassadors are selected to represent and highlight the invaluable contributions of Cayman’s older persons during Older Persons Month, which is celebrated annually throughout October. The Ambassador Award recognizes individuals 65 years and older who are of good character and have made a substantial impact at the community, district, or national level.

When:

Nominations are now open and must be submitted by Thursday, 18 September 2025.

Older Persons Month will be celebrated across the Cayman Islands during the month of October 2025.

Where:

Completed nomination forms should be returned to the Older Persons Month Committee at the DCFS office or submitted by email to dcfs@gov.ky .

Why:

The theme for this year’s celebration is:

“Legacies in Motion: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.”

This theme highlights the importance of intergenerational connections and recognizes how the wisdom, leadership, and experience of our older persons continue to shape Cayman’s future.

Nomination Criteria:

Ambassadors must:

• Be 65 years or older and of good character

• Demonstrate leadership in charitable causes and advocacy for older persons

• Inspire others by serving across generations

• Have contributed to their community consistently for over three years

• Go above and beyond their professional duties in their volunteer and community roles

How to Nominate:

Nomination forms are available at www.gov.ky/iisd/publications . Completed forms, including supporting evidence where necessary, must be submitted by Thursday, 18 September 2025 via email to dcfs@gov.ky  or delivered to the DCFS office.
