Police Arrest Three for Robbery Incidents in Bodden Town and George Town
Police responded to two separate robbery incidents on Tuesday night, 3 February, one in the Savannah area of Bodden Town, and the other on Walkers Road in George Town.
The first robbery took place at a store on Hirst Road. It is reported that just before 8:30 PM, two men entered the store armed with knives and stole a quantity of cash and a bottle of wine before fleeing the location.
One suspect is described as of medium build, and the second suspect is described as slim. The police were also advised of a third suspect, described as female. She fled in the same area where the two men ran.
During the second incident that took place just before 10:00 PM, police arrested three persons in relation to an attempted robbery that took place at a store on Walkers Road.
It is reported that two men, wearing masks and armed with knives, entered the establishment and attempted to rob a cashier who resisted the perpetrators.
During the altercation, the cashier sustained injuries but was eventually able to escape, leaving the two male suspects in the store. Members of the public outside assisted by holding the door shutters closed.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and arrested two men, ages 18 and 28, both from West Bay, along with a female juvenile who is also believed to be involved in the robbery.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
As part of the investigation, the police seized a quantity of cash and an abandoned vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.
All three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. Police believe that these incidents are linked at this time.
Police would like to commend the actions of the store employee & the public who assisted, but would stress that personal safety should always be a priority.
