Police Report on Recent Uptick in Burglaries in George Town

Between 10 November and 13 November, officers with the RCIPS have responded to seven reports of burglaries. Of these reports, six have been carried out at commercial premises along the Waterfront in the district of George Town.

One man, age 34, of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of burglary yesterday, 13 November, and remains in custody pending further investigation.

The RCIPS has prioritised safeguarding the community from these types of incidents but is also reminding businesses of the importance of having working CCTV activated at all times and to ensure premises can be adequately secured after hours. Investigators have found that the perpetrator(s) of these burglary incidents have been stealing cash from the locations and urge business owners to take proper precautions to protect their businesses, such as refraining from leaving cash overnight and making regular cash deposits.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information regarding any of these incidents of burglary to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
