Police Respond to House Explosion in Bodden Town

At approximately 7:00 PM on Friday, 4 July, emergency services - including police, fire, and ambulance, were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to reports of a house explosion in the Look Out Gardens area of Bodden Town.

A 52-year-old female occupant of the residence sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The home sustained significant structural damage as a result of the incident. Investigators from the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) will conduct further examination of the scene to determine the cause of the explosion.

The RCIPS and CIFS remind members of the public to exercise caution around damaged or compromised structures and to report any signs of gas leaks, electrical hazards, or unusual smells immediately to 9-1-1. If you suspect a safety risk in your home, do not attempt to investigate or repair it yourself, contact the appropriate emergency services for assistance.
