Public Consultation Now Open – Proposed Residential Tenancies Amendments

The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure (MPLAHI) is inviting stakeholders to participate in the public consultation on the Draft Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

The consultation is open from 7 August through 20 September 2026 and provides an opportunity for tenants, landlords, property managers, legal professionals, businesses, community organisations and other interested persons to review the proposed amendments and provide feedback before Government determines the appropriate next steps.

The consultation materials include:

Draft Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Bill, 2023;

High-Level Overview of the Draft Bill;

Frequently Asked Questions; and

What’s Changing at a Glance.

The consultation documents and further information are available at publicconsultation.gov.ky

Written submissions should be sent to ResidentialTenanciesConsultation@gov.ky no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, 20 September 2026.

The Bill is a consultation draft. It has not been approved and is not law. Stakeholder feedback will be reviewed and considered as part of the policy and legislative process before Government determines the appropriate next steps.

We encourage you to review the consultation materials, provide your feedback and share the consultation information with relevant members of your organisation or network.
