St. Ignatius Catholic start new season on a roll
This past Saturday, September 20, parents and supporters of ‘the powerful game’ welcomed the 2025 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football league (GPFL) back to football venues across Grand Cayman.
In Group A, St. Ignatius Catholic’s boys set the tone for the season as they left the Camana Bay SC with two big wins over the Cayman International School (CIS) White teams. Catholic’s Under 9 boys saw off CIS 9 White 3-0 and the Under 11s got past CIS 11 White 4-0 (respect rule).
In other Group A Under 9 games, Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9A drew with Cayman Prep 9B 0-0 and Island Primary 9A got past Joanna Clarke Primary 5-1.
In other Group A Under 11 games, Sir John A. Cumber Primary downed Cayman Prep 11B 4-0 (respect rule), Island Primary beat Joanna Clarke Primary 3-1 and Marie Martin Primary got the better of newcomers Grace Christian Academy 4-0 (respect rule).
In Group B, eight times defending Under 11 boys league champions Cayman Prep 11A began their title defence with a 4-0 (respect rule) win over Red Bay Primary, while their younger classmates defeated Red Bay Primary’s Under 9 team 4-0 (respect rule).
In other Group B Under 9 games, Footsteps School outgunned Island Primary 9B 5-2, Prospect Primary defeated newcomers First Baptist Christian School 4-0 (respect rule) and Sir John A Cumber Primary were awarded the win over SCM Challengers 4-0 (forfeit).
In the Under 11 division in Group B, NorthEast School edged out Footsteps School 3-2, First Baptist Christian School downed Prospect Primary 2-1 and CIS 11 Blue beat Cayman Brac 4-0 (respect rule).
In the GPFL division in Group A, CIS GA and defending champions St. Ignatius Catholic settled for 1-1 draw and Sir John A. Cumber Primary defeated Cayman Prep GB 4-0 (respect rule). In Group B, Cayman Prep GA were awarded a win over Red Bay Primary 4-0 (forfeit) and NorthEast Schools beat Island Primary 2-0.
Games scheduled for this Saturday, September 27 will be played at the Annex Field, Red Bay Primary, Prospect Primary, St. Ignatius Catholic, Camana Bay SC, West Bay Town Hall Field and Theoline L. McCoy Primary.
