The Eastern Link Connecting East End and North Side Launched on 1 October

Commuters in East End and North Side who use public transportation should now experience an improved connection with the wider public bus network.

That’s because the Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure in partnership with the Public Transport Unit has launched The Eastern Link, a free four-month public transport pilot serving East End and North Side.

The Eastern Link, which was launched on Thursday, October 1st, is designed to strengthen connectivity across the Eastern Districts and provide passengers with a practical connection to the wider public bus network through Frank Sound Junction.

The pilot will give residents an extended opportunity to use the service while Government gathers operational information and passenger feedback to help inform future public transport planning.

The Eastern Link will comprise three passenger-facing services which will be available on Monday to Saturday from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, excluding Public Holidays.

1. East End Loop via East End

2. North Side/Cayman Kai

3. East End Loop via Queen’s Highway

Frank Sound Junction has now been designed to serve as the principal connection point between The Eastern Link and the existing public bus network.

Free Shuttle Service

Travel on The Eastern Link shuttle is free for the duration of the pilot. Where shuttle passengers transfer to an existing public bus, the existing public bus fare rates will apply.

To support operations, PTU staff will be on site every morning to ensure buses run as expected and to facilitate a smooth transition between public and shuttle buses at the junction.

Try It. Use It. Tell Us What You Think.

Residents are encouraged to try The Eastern Link during the pilot, use the official passenger information to plan their journeys and share feedback on their experience. Towards the final phase of the pilot, Government will place additional emphasis on passenger and stakeholder feedback to support evaluation of the service.
