The NHC provides the latest advisory on Tropical Storm Melissa.
The storm continues to meander across the Caribbean, currently deemed stationary (not moving). Environmental conditions are expected to become more favourable for development through the weekend, with TS Melissa anticipated to become a Hurricane by Saturday.
The recent track by the NHC is forecasting the system to move South of Jamaica and become a Major Hurricane by Sunday. A faster northerly track is then expected and the system could move between the Sister Islands and western Jamaica by Tuesday.
There is still some uncertainty at this time, therefore depending on the track the system actually takes, along with its size and structure, possible influences on weather conditions across the Cayman Islands could be observed early next week.
Based on the forecast trends, residents are encouraged to remain cautious and prepared as we monitor potential shifts in the projected path.
Continue to closely monitor updates for any potential impact or advisories for the Cayman Islands, using official channels of information.
Next update will be provided at 10:30AM.
