Tickets on sale as CIMNT hosts Honduras in FIFA World Cup Qualifying

Cayman’s Men’s National Team resumes FIFA World Cup Qualifying next month on the road versus Bermuda before hosting Honduras at home in a massive showdown that marks the first time the two countries will meet. Tickets for the match versus Honduras are on sale now via Event Pro.

Cayman opens the second round of Group A qualifying in Bermuda on Wednesday, June 4 before hosting group leader Honduras in its group stage finale at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

“This series of matches has the potential to be historic for Cayman Islands football,” Head Coach Joey Jap Tjong said. “Our players are excited for the challenge and are ready to show they can play with the best in the region and the world.”

The CIMNT ended 2024 on a high note, having qualified for League B of the Concacaf Nations League for the first time and earning a spot to play in its first CNL Play-In. Cayman has won or drawn in four of its last seven matches. The squad traveled to Portugal earlier this year for three friendlies with domestic clubs, including GD Prado, SC Braga and FC Vizela.

“That trip will go a long way in the development of our players and team,” Jap Tjong said. “The level of football we played in Portugal will serve us well as we play these qualifiers.”

Cayman kicks off at 6 p.m. on June 4 at the National Sports Centre (National Stadium), in Bermuda’s North Shore Village. Bermuda is ranked 168th in the most recent FIFA world rankings.

It finds itself in last place in Group A with one point after opening qualifying with a 1-1 draw with Antigua & Barbuda before suffering a 6-1 loss to Honduras in its second qualifier.

Honduras leads group A with six points and a +7 goal differential after opening qualifying with a 3-1 win over Cuba before taking a 6-1 victory against Bermuda. Honduras is currently ranked No. 75 in the FIFA world rankings.

“With the strong cultural ties between the two countries, we know the local fans will really be looking forward to the match with Honduras,” Jap Tjong said. “Let’s pack our National Stadium full of Cayman Islands supporters and get as loud as we can.”

Early bird prices are KYD $30 for the main grandstand and $20 for the Mackie stands through May 31. Purchase your tickets now through this link. Prices will be $35 and $25, respectively, as of June 1.
