UCCI WELCOMES A NEW ACTING PRESIDENT AND CEO AS IT EMBARKS ON A NEW CHAPTER OF SERVICE TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS

The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) has today announced that the Board of Governors has appointed Dr. Livingston Smith as the university’s Acting President and CEO. A longstanding educator, thought leader, and member of UCCI’s academic family, Professor Smith brings a wealth of experience in administration having served in several capacities including University Professor, Department Chair, Director of Research and Publication, Vice President and Provost.

A trained educator, he has a master’s and PhD in Political Science as well as a Graduate Diploma and a master’s degree in law. Dr. Smith also has trained in Higher Education Leadership and Administration as well as in theology amongst other areas of knowledge. He comes to this posting with an in-depth knowledge of the higher education landscape as well as a passion for education.

Reflecting on his appointment, Chairman of UCCI’s Board of Governors, Mr. Gilbert McLean, commented, “We are delighted to announce that Dr. Livingston Smith will take on a new role as Acting President and CEO. Dr. Smith has been a part of the UCCI family for over 20 years and therefore his leadership ensures a seamless transition and continued momentum as the university begins a search for its next President and CEO. We look forward to Dr. Smith leading the University through our 50th anniversary celebrations and into our next chapter.”
