Water-Related Death

On Saturday morning, 10 January, just after 8:50AM, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard duty team responded to a report of a person in distress in the waters off the West Bay Dock. It was reported that a man had been diving from a boat when he appeared to experience difficulties while resurfacing. He was assisted onto the boat where he lost consciousness, and crew members of the dive vessel and a Coast Guard member conducted CPR as he was transported back to shore. EMS attended the location and, upon returning to shore, the man was transported to hospital via ambulance. He was later pronounced deceased by the attending physician.

The deceased is a man age 60 years old of Canada. The RCIPS & CICG expresses condolences to his family and friends.
