YYYC Cayman Returns – Ministry of PLAHI Continues Sponsorship for Second Year Running

The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure (PLAHI), announces its continued sponsorship of the Young Chef, Young Waiter, and Young Mixologist Cayman Islands Competition (YYYC), set to return for its second year from 2nd – 4th September 2025.

This world-class competition highlights the Cayman Islands’ rising hospitality talent while reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to food security, agriculture, and sustainability. Through PLAHI’s sponsorship, contestants will be provided with a curated “Chef’s Larder” featuring fresh, locally grown produce, meats, eggs, and agro-products, directly linking Cayman’s farms to its tourism product.

The Hon. Johany “Jay” Ebanks, MP, Minister for PLAHI, stated:

“By connecting our farmers with our hospitality industry, we are closing the loop between agriculture, tourism, and sustainability. This competition is not only about showcasing young Caymanian talent but also about inspiring the next generation to embrace innovation while grounding their skills in local, homegrown products.”

The competition will take place across several days, culminating in an awards ceremony where the winners of each category — Young Chef, Young Waiter, and Young Mixologist — will be named and later represent the Cayman Islands at the global finals.
