Action from the CUC PFL Under 11 Champions Cup final between eventual champions Cayman Prep 11A and Marie Martin Primary (blue and black).
Cayman Prep continue to roll-out title winning teams after securing four championships this past Saturday at the conclusion of the 2025 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) Under 9 and Under 11 boys’ and girls’ Champions Cup and Consolation Cup finals.
CUC GPFL Consolation Cup (Girls):
The young ladies from Cayman Prep GB secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Cayman International School (CIS) Blue to register Cayman Prep’s first championship of the day.
CUC GPFL Champions Cup (Girls):
In the third-place contest, Sir John A. Cumber Primary outlasted a spirited Joanna Clarke Primary team 1-0.
In a repeat of the 2024 GPFL Champions Cup final, Cayman Prep GA needed penalties once again to see off a talented NorthEast Schools outfit 2-1. With the score locked at 1-1 following the end of regulation time, five minutes of extra time could not separate the two schools as the dreaded penalty shootout loomed. Prep’s confidence shone through as their goalkeeper and eventual Marie Martin Most Valuable Player (MVP) Sophie Pearson saved two penalties to clinch the title for her teammates. This was the second year in a row that Miss Pearson was awarded the prestigious MVP trophy for her exploits between the posts.
CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup (Boys):
Island Primary 9B defeated Joanna Clarke Primary 1-0 to win the CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup final much to the delight of their supporters, complete with band and all. The sounds of Island Primary drums could be heard throughout the game.
CUC PFL Under 9 Champions Cup (Boys):
In the third-place encounter, St. Ignatius Catholic defeated Prospect Primary 2-0 following an enthralling penalty shootout. With both schools unable to find the back of the net during regulation time and extra time, St. Ignatius Catholic showed their metal as they sunk two of their three penalties to secure third-place.
In the final, Cayman Prep 9A continued their dominance of the Under 9 division with a 3-0 win over Island Primary 9A. Prep’s energetic Liam Stewart was awarded the Gerome Graham Most Valuable Player Award for his influential display during the final.
CUC PFL Under 11 Consolation Cup (Boys):
Another nail-biting game was decided by the goal of the day as Red Bay Primary downed Cayman Brac 1-0 to take home the trophy.
CUC PFL Under 11 Champions Cup (Boys):
In the third-place game, St. Ignatius Catholic regained a great deal of pride after they came from behind to defeat Island Primary 2-1. The young men from St. Ignatius Catholic were devastated after losing on penalties to reigning champions Cayman Prep 11A in their semi-final last week.
In the battle of undefeated schools, Cayman Prep 11A clinched their ninth straight Under 11 Champions Cup title after defeating Marie Martin Primary 4-0 (respect rule) in the final. An early goal was enough to frustrate the Marie Martin boys who went ‘off script’ and lost their way for the remainder of the first half. Cayman Prep’s ‘suffocating’ pressure limited their opponents’ attacking opportunities although credit was due to the Marie Martin players for never giving up and battling to the end. Cayman Prep’s Fraser Gow was selected the Justin Henry Most Valuable Player for his inspirational play and two goals in the final.
