RCIPS report increase in Stolen Vehicles
Police Advise on Increase in Stolen Vehicles
The RCIPS has noted an increase in the number of stolen vehicle reports since the beginning of July, with 18 reports received over the course of the month, including attempted vehicle thefts. One male juvenile has been arrested in Bodden Town, for handling stolen goods, after having been found with parts taken from one of the stolen vehicles. He has been granted bail as investigations continue.
The majority of the reports have occurred in George Town, with West Bay and Bodden Town affected as well. Most of the offences have occurred overnight, and some have involved vehicles which were not properly secured. In some other incidents the culprits appear to have gained access to vehicles using other methods.
Most of the reports have involved cars, including several involving Honda's from the late 90's and early 2000's. Many of the vehicles have since been recovered, but several remain outstanding.
