Dominica is building affordable housing at a rapid rate

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit insists that with so many projects planned, 2021 will be an exciting one despite the global pandemic.

“2021 is going to be a very exciting year for Dominica,” Skerrit said on DBS Radio. “You know, in every disappointment there is a blessing and we have to ensure that we take advantage of the blessing and going into 2021, there are many important projects and programmes that our country can look forward to.”

He identified the international airport as the major infrastructural project. “We have finalised negotiations for the lands, we have started to clear the sites for the construction of the residencies for those persons being affected by the airport construction,” Skerrit stated.

He said this will be a major investment for Dominica to create mass employment. There are numerous housing projects underway too. “Housing continues to be a major need in our country and we have given a commitment to build 5,000 climate resilient homes and that’s what we are doing,” Skerrit said.
