Dr Ralph Gonsalves was hospitalised from the attack

The alleged protestor who threw a rock at Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, appeared in court last week.

Heavily armed police were stationed outside the Kingston Magistrate Court as Annamy Lewis, a 56-year-old vendor, of Layou, appeared in court charged with wounding Gonsalves.

He suffered heavy bleeding and a concussion when struck on the head with an object - believed to be a rock - outside Parliament during a protest against his government intending to vaccinate front line workers against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lewis pleaded not guilty to the charge that on Aug. 5, at the protest she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Gonsalves. She was given bail set at EC$3,000 (KY$920) and the case was adjourned to Sept. 15.
