#EmbraceEquity

As a child I grew up in a world that was largely male dominated . I always felt a bit of resentment because I thought it was unfair. My brother was treated differently he had no chores in our home, he was free to play. Can you imagine that not so long ago female athletes were excluded from competition in certain sports ? We have certainly evolved and made huge strides but it is not enough. Relaxing at this stage is not an option. We have to continue to pave the way for the future generation of women.

They should inherit a world where they feel free to achieve their goals without hindrance.

We must continue to Embrace Equity!

Our fourth person in this series is:

Ursula Parsons

81 years old.

Dept of Sports West Bay Seniors - Community Fitness Group.

Quote:

“Being physically active is something I truly enjoy; it makes me feel good! I exercise at home in my room often as possible. It keeps me supple.

I am very grateful to all the women in our Islands who paved the way over the years, and to date, making it possible for women like me and others to exercise.

If it wasn’t for their tireless efforts, I and many others would not get the opportunities we have today. I #EmbraceEquity”!

Our fifth person in this series is:

Ludivene Dilbert

74 years old.

Dept of Sports West Bay Seniors - Community Fitness Group.

Quote:

“I like to exercise because I know that it is essential to one’s health and wellbeing.”

March being Honouring Women’s Month, I would like to celebrate the countless women who have fought tirelessly; and courageously for equality, justice and opportunity in our islands”.

Honoring Women Month, commemorates women’s contribution to society and culture in the Cayman Islands.
