Dr. Ormond Neely Panton receives Honorary Doctorate

The University College of the Cayman Islands will be bestowing on Dr. Ormond Neely Panton, the degree, Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) honoris causa, in recognition of his contribution to the field of science. This degree will be conferred at UCCI’s 2019 Commencement Celebration, November 7, beginning at 7pm.

The degree of Honorary Doctorate is the highest form of recognition given by the University College of the Cayman Island’s to persons of highest distinction.  These persons must have made an indisputably positive, signal and lasting contribution to the development of the Cayman Islands. Such areas include scholarship, public service, humanitarianism, science and art or any other deemed appropriate.

Dr. Ormond Panton, as a top surgeon, clinical professor and leader and pioneer in the medical field, stands out as a most successful and accomplished medical doctor. His curriculum vitae shows a depth and breadth of achievements that are difficult to surpass.

As a humanitarian, Dr. Panton has kept closely in touch with his country and has quietly contributed to the local hospital and to the University hospital of the West Indies.
