Eleven students receive Home Care Certificate

Equipped and ready to serve Persons in need of care, eleven adults received their Home Care Aide Certificate, from The Pines Retirement Home (PRH) on Saturday, 3rd November 2017, completing a 10-week Vocational Course in Home Care Aide, and Ten (10) Hours of Practical Training.

 

The course highlighted Proper Care Procedures such as “how to” Develop Effective Communication Skills, Handle Emergencies, understand the Client’s Needs and How the Body Works, Observe Report and Record (ORR), Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment, Meet the client’s Nutritional Needs, Prevent Infection, Make Bed, Provide Personal Care, Measure Vital Signs, Care for Older Adults, Mothers, Infants, and Children, Care for Clients with Mental Illness and at the End of Life, and How to Get and Keep a Job.

 

Lynda Mitchell, The PRH Manager and one of the facilitators said “we are very proud of our graduates. The students enjoyed their studies and each other, and all passed with remarkable reviews. With an advance level in home care aide, the students look forward to a thriving career in the Home Care field now that they are fully prepared to serve those in need of care.”

 

The Home Care Aide Course is offered twice annually at the PRH. The next class will commence Tuesday, 19th February 2019. The class size is limited to 15 students. For more details, please contact Ms. Marie Rivers at The Pines Retirement Home on 949-5650.
