Firearm Recovered and Man Arrested Following Vehicle Search
Shortly after 2:00AM on Friday morning, 12 May, officers responded to a report that a man in Central George Town was believed to be in possession of a firearm. Officers located the vehicle the man was driving and used sirens and lights to signal him to stop, however he refused to comply with the officers’ instructions. He continued driving and subsequently collided with the wall of a store on North Church Street.
The man was detained by officers and the vehicle was searched. During the search officers recovered a loaded handgun. The man, age 30 of George Town, was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and other offenses.
He remains in custody as investigations continue.
