Guyana’s capital Georgetown will soon see enormous expansion

Guyana’s new found oil wealth will soon be benefiting its citizens, according to a cabinet minister.

Guyanese can look forward to the widespread transformation of the country's economy from February’s national budget, said Mohabir Anil Nandlall, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs.

The government is set to announce its budget February Nandlall said and promises “greatness” for Guyana and its people as the PPP/C embarks on its first full year in office.

The commencement of the new Demerara Harbour Bridge is one of many projects. Major highways are planned, including one to Brazil and the Deep Water Harbour in Berbice will be built.

He added that at least three international hotels will be built and another Marriot, Best Western, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Sheraton will be added as well as investment in manufacturing industries.

Nandlall also said more airlines are expected to debut their service to Guyana, while new, large oil companies would start operations there. “Look at the budget. Tens of thousands of projects are unfolding. This is the year the boom will begin. That is how the PPP plans to unfold governance this year.”
