Island Heritage announces recipient of 2023 Educational Grant

Island Heritage Insurance Company, Ltd. (“Island Heritage” or “the Company”) announced today that it has awarded its 2023 Educational Grant to Marlena Williams.

Marlena is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Marketing with a specialization in Digital Marketing and Analytics at Johnson & Wales University. During her first semester she has already landed on the Dean’ List with an impressive 4.0 GPA. After completing her studies, she plans to return to the Cayman Islands to bring new insight and a modernized approach to the ever-changing marketing field.

The Island Heritage Education Grant Committee received a record number of applications this year, however Marlena impressed the panel with her resilience and determination. Commenting on her selection as the 2023 Educational Grant recipient, Marlena said, “I am truly honored to be recognized for my resilience and efforts to make a difference. This grant will make a significant impact on my educational journey, and I would like to thank Island Heritage for providing me with the support that will enable me to further my studies and contribute positively to my field and my country.”

Caroline Mills-White, EVP Group Head of P&C, said: “We are pleased once again to be able to offer this grant to assist a local student in their academic pursuits. We were also very impressed with the high caliber of students who applied this year and we wish them all success in their future endeavors.”

Established in 2017, the grant offers US $10,000 to be used towards the cost of tuition, accommodation, books or travel, related to full-time study at an accredited college or university. The criteria for selection includes academic excellence, demonstrated leadership experience, and community engagement and service. The recipient is selected by a committee of Island Heritage staff.
