By Contributor

Despite the ongoing outburst of Covid-19, Pure Harmony Production hosted their first Island Jam Charity Concert last Saturday, October 2, 2021, held at the Lion Community Centre and it was very successful. Following the number of the target audience, the place was in high spirit as fans were cheering and whistling to the performers. The beneficiaries for this concert were the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands (ADACI), Big Brothers Big Sisters, and John Gray High School Music Department.

The Charity Concert also coincided with the 21st birthday of a young Filipino-Caymanian artist, composer, producer, and singer Teodoro. In line with his 21st birthday, he gave away US$2,100 through raffle tickets and was drawn at the last part of the concert. Known as Teo. he played as the main artist of the said Charity Concert where he displayed various talents during the show.

The lovely and vibrant hosting of Miss Cayman Islands Universe 1st runner-up, Kimberly Carlos, and Mr. Emman Jose has made the program tedious. Their tandem has been quite remarkable as they kept the excitement of the show until the end.

The concert started with the singing of the Cayman National Song by Moriah Praise Padua, 2020 Miss World Imperial Beauties Cover Girl, and the Philippine National song “Lupang Hinirang” by Ms. Apple Obillio.

Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2021, Miss Georgina Kerford, on her breathtaking first appearance, was well applauded by the audience as she took a walk on stage, waving her hands and blowing kisses to everyone.

Different local singers were Rico Rolando, KG Paree & KJAP, Yohann, IamDiante, ASYA Band had showered the audience with thrilling performances. The enthusiasm of the Que-man Crew Dancers with their Tik-Tok remix, the all-male dancers of ASYA Dance, the striking dance of Philippine Tennis Club Dance group, and of course, the professionalism and yet entertaining dance of the Philippine Dance Troupe were also showcased on the said event.

The main artist, Teodoro a.k.a. “TEO” known as Justin Bieber of the Cayman Islands, turned the stage upside down as he sang his first composed song “Love Coasters” featuring Miss Denise, the director of the said concert. “Teo has envisioned this Charity Concert for his 21st birthday because he wanted to give something back to the community. For that reason, it’s a free admission concert plus he gave somebody 21 hundred US dollars. With God’s guidance, the plan became fruition, and I gave Teo a high hat for that”, said Denise.

Jaygo De la Vega, the band leader of Asya Band said. “It’s overwhelming working with the amazing and talented youth like Teo and I’m proud of him”. The Asya Band accompanied Teo on his several compositions such as “Flow”, “In my blood”, “Angel” and “Silverlining”. He also sang with Rico Rolando on their 2018 duet “All the Way” song. Teo has proven himself to be a multitalented young artist when he surprised the audience with a dance number with Asya Dance while singing his song “Freedom”.

In the middle of the program, Pastor Maria Padua, the Concert Adviser rewarded a big replica check to each beneficiary amounting to USD 1,000. “Of course, this Charity Concert would not be possible without the contribution of our major sponsors EFcon Construction, the Prodigy Jeweler and the Vampt Motors, and all the sponsors. We would like to thank also those who bought the raffle tickets, the sellers, and also those who willingly gave their donations, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much,” said Pastor Padua.

“Efcon is a proud sponsor, and it is a privilege to support the local community and talents- Island Jam put together both Caymanian and Filipinos,” said Erick Faustino, the Vice President of Efcon Construction and the owner of Super Maintenance company. “Building up the community is like building a house- you have to make sure the foundation is properly set, and then strong support is built front the ground up. This is why we sponsored the event with our property maintenance company, Super Maintenance. Mr. Faustino added, “The talents were entertaining, and we look forward to seeing them doing big things.”

The concert highlighted also the 21st birthday of Teo and he blew the candle of the red delicious guitar cake given by Mrs. Jean and Mr. Nelson Ferrer.

Aside from the 21 prizes given away, the much-awaited grand prize amounting to USD2100 was finally drawn and all the eyes and ears of the audience were attentive as Teo announced the winner…. Mr. Clifford Powery! The crowd cheered in celebration.

“I thank God that this Charity Concert was a success. I wanted to have a concert for my 21st birthday, showcasing my God-given talent and other local talent living here in the Cayman Islands.” said Teo “I’d like to thank the people who were a part of this ‘Island Jam Concert’ Debut, for it Couldn’t happen without your loving support. I hope you can experience Island Jam next time around, you I don’t wanna miss out!”

Most of the crowd stayed even though the concert finished aa they were fascinated by the talents showcased in the Island Jam Charity Concert.

“It was truly a victorious night, Thank God for turning the vision into a reality. Couldn’t be done without my amazing team especially Director Denise and Kuya Christian Lapena for being there to help. This is not the last, but the first of something astounding and I can’t wait” Teo added as he ended the event while singing his new song “Silverlining” and afterward posting with the fans, friends, and family.
