Junior tennis players hit competitive note (slug)

Competitiveness and determination were much in evidence at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club last weekend (ie weekend of 12/13 Mar), as junior players did battle in 2022’s second PwC-sponsored tournament.

“We witnessed lots of great matches in four age groups: U10, U12, U14 and U18,” commented tournament director and CITC head pro Alejandro Vial.

Shri G Shibu emerged victorious in the U10s, with Jackson Shambaugh taking the runner-up spot.

In the U12s, Aaron S Rajamohan fought his way to the top spot, with Ava Pierre coming in second.

Daniel Suico was the champion in the U14s, with Mico Samson in second place.

And in the U18s, Albert Berksoy put in strong, solid play to claim the winner’s prize, with Abi Anderson as the runner-up.

About 20 youngsters in total took part in the event’s hotly-contested matches.

PwC tournaments are run by the Tennis Federation of Cayman Islands, a non-profit, and all juniors, whether beginners or more advanced, are welcome to play; membership of a club is not necessary.
