Montserrat is finalising its preparations for its Carnival 2023 next month, celebrating its 60th anniversary. This exuberant festival showcases the island’s wealth of talent, music, culture and history, the perfect climax to the end of the year.
Carnival 2023 will run from 16 December to 2 January 2024, and features a full slate of events. The festivities will run under the theme ‘Celebrating over 60 years of Mas, Pageantry, Calypso and Revelry’.
Trevon ‘Trevvle’ Pollard has released Montserrat’s first Soca song for the 2023 Carnival Season. The song, “Tek Jam”, was written by Pollard and Star Gunners Global.
The Montserrat Arts Council said Montserratians interested in participating in the 2023 Soca Monarch Competition have a short time remaining to register.
The reigning Power Soca Monarch is Steve “GT” Jeffery while, the Groovy Monarch is John “Warda” Murrain. Soca Monarch 2023 is slated for Tuesday 26 December.
This year the calendar hosts over 20 MAC sponsored and privately promoted events ranging from pageantry, steel pan, calypso and soca, parades and fetes.
