T&T film festival was all online

The T&T Film Festival was an online hit

The week-long Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival Film finished on Tuesday and enthusiasts enjoyed a better online experience.

It was run by the non-profit filmmakers organisation Filmmakers Collaborative of TT (Filmco) from Sept. 22-28, and it was the second year the event was completely online owing to the pandemic.

Mariel Brown, Filmco/TTFF interim executive director, said last year the organisation was in reaction mode, trying to find solutions that could work to engage audiences and show regional films. She recalled that, up to two weeks before the festival, the organisers were hoping, to no avail, some in-person events could he held. But this year it was staged completely online, which made the planning more structured, she said.

And, with TTFF’s new online platform, Eventive, customers easily found, watched and bought the films they wanted.

Brown said that audiences grew “more accustomed to the idea of online events, and more comfortable with attending online events. Because we see it as our present, but we also see it as part of our future.”
