The Breast Cancer Foundation has received a welcome boost to its work in the Cayman Islands following the donation of a new vehicle by TRAC Automotive.

The Breast Cancer Foundation has received a welcome boost to its work in the Cayman Islands following the donation of a new vehicle by TRAC Automotive.

The donation will help the Foundation expand its reach across the community and provide its team with reliable transportation as it continues to deliver support, education and breast cancer awareness programmes throughout the Islands.

While the donation is a practical one, the Foundation says its impact will extend well beyond simply providing transportation.

The vehicle will be used to support a range of the Foundation’s activities, including community outreach, early detection initiatives, awareness programmes, wellness support and assistance for women and families navigating a breast cancer diagnosis.

Beverly Edgington, Chief Operating Officer of the Breast Cancer Foundation, said the donation would directly strengthen the organisation’s ability to reach people who need its services.

“This donation means so much to us because it directly increases our ability to be there for the people who need us,” Edgington said.

“A vehicle may seem like a practical gift, but for us it represents something much bigger. It means our team can get out into the community, reach more people and deliver our services where they are needed. Ultimately, every journey this vehicle makes will be about supporting someone affected by breast cancer.”

Growing demand for support

The donation comes as the Breast Cancer Foundation continues to broaden the scope of its work in Cayman.

In recent years, the organisation has seen growing demand for its services, with its work extending beyond financial assistance to include education and awareness, early detection, wellness and survivorship programmes, as well as practical and emotional support.

For the Foundation, having the resources to take those services directly into the community is an increasingly important part of that work.

Edgington said support from the private sector remains an important component of the Foundation’s ability to respond to those needs.

“We are incredibly fortunate to operate in a community where businesses understand that giving back is not simply about writing a cheque,” she said.

“TRAC Automotive has made a tangible investment in the work we do and, most importantly, in the people we support. We are genuinely grateful to the entire TRAC team for their generosity and confidence in the Foundation.”

A practical contribution

TRAC Automotive said the decision to donate the vehicle was driven by a desire to provide something that could make a practical difference to the Foundation’s day-to-day operations.

A representative of the company said TRAC was proud to support an organisation whose work touches the lives of women and families throughout Cayman.

“TRAC Automotive is proud to support the Breast Cancer Foundation and the important work they do throughout our community,” the representative said.

“We know that their team is out every day supporting women and families affected by breast cancer, and we wanted our contribution to be something practical that would help them continue that work.”

The representative added that the company hopes the vehicle will allow the Foundation to extend its reach even further.

“We hope this vehicle will make their work a little easier and allow them to reach even more people across Cayman. It is a privilege for us to be able to give back to an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference in our community.”

The vehicle arrives at an important time for the Foundation as it continues expanding its programmes and working to ensure that breast cancer education, early detection and support remain accessible to people across the Cayman Islands.

For Edgington, the significance of the donation ultimately comes down to what the Foundation will now be able to do with it.

“The greatest gift any organisation can receive is the ability to do more for the community it serves,” she said.

“TRAC Automotive has given us exactly that. We will put this vehicle to work, and its impact will be felt in the lives of the women and families we support for years to come.”

The donation also highlights the role local businesses can play in supporting community organisations, not only through financial contributions, but by providing the practical resources that allow them to extend their work.

For the Breast Cancer Foundation, that means another vehicle on Cayman’s roads — but, more importantly, another way of reaching the people who need its support.
