Acorn Media announced today the general availability of the Cayman Good Taste app which represents a whole new way to get the most out of Cayman’s culinary scene.
The app, which is available for free from the Apple and Google app stores, gives Cayman residents and visitors access to all the best restaurants and bars in Cayman. The app allows users to browse 100s of menus, foodie events and promotions; make restaurant reservations; as well as play Restaurant Roulette.
Charles Grover, the Managing Director at Acorn Media said, “The Good Taste app is the result of nearly two years of design, coding and testing. We spent a huge amount of time ensuring that the app is really easy to use, fast, fun and showcases new restaurants and bars that people might not have tried before.”
The app of course shows full restaurant menus, and for those with special dietary requirements, these menus highlight which dishes are gluten-free, vegan or suitable for vegetarians, making dining decisions easier for people with allergies.
Diners on a budget can review 100s of foodie promotions which might include 2 for 1 Deals, Lunch Specials, Fixed Price offers and other discounts, including Early Bird Deals. Diners looking for a different dining experience can review 100s of culinary events to see what is on offer at some of Cayman’s best restaurants. Foodie events might include gourmet dinners, fish fries, themed nights, brunches, trivia nights, BBQs, seasonal specials and a whole lot more.
Users can book a table in their favourite restaurant with a couple of taps, while users not quite sure where to dine, can search 200 restaurants by cuisine, price, area and other special categories. For example, you can search for seafood restaurants, on Seven Mile Beach, serving dinner, with a waterview. Or perhaps search for restaurants, near me, serving an affordable breakfast, which also have a kids menu. Alternatively, users can search for cocktail bars anywhere in Cayman to see what happy hours they are offering!
For indecisive diners, the Restaurant Roulette feature might prove to be the answer to their dreams. “The Restaurant Roulette feature has been designed to be a fun way for foodies to make dining decisions”, said Charles Grover. “Users select a high level option such as Surprise Me, Budget or Special Occasion, and the app randomly presents three restaurants that fall within these guidelines. Diners can then pick one of the three, or let the app randomly pick one!”
“The initial feedback from our first adopters has been amazing”, said Charles Grover. “The Restaurant Roulette feature has been a big hit and has been described as ‘genius’, while other users love that fact that they can see all the menus, promotions and events in one place”.
Other features in the app include a ‘Near Me’ search, getting directions and viewing restaurants on a map, searching for restaurants that offer takeout and/or delivery, and links to Editors Picks which are regularly posted by the editorial staff and which often include seasonal roundups.
